...The tutorials and forums about UEd mapping were what taught me the most about using the editor. This is my way of giving back.

If any of the information presented is incorrect, please do contact me at vincennes999@yahoo.com and I will correct it. Please put 'tutorial correction' or something similar in the subject line so I know it's not spam.

*Note: I created the most of the tutorials using the Roboblitz editor, and I used the Gears Of War editor for the 'Applying Kismet' section. I may add GOW & UT3 specific items later. Until then, the Kismet covered will apply to 'Vanilla' UE3 Engines.

If you first need to learn how to create a test map please visit the following: For Roboblitz, I would reccomend the 'Basic Map' area of the RoboBlitz Wiki. For GOW & UT3 I would reccomend the Unreal Wiki.

What is Kismet?

Kismet is a GUI for UScript that's accessible to Level Designers to use when creating levels. Level Designers can now take the events, actors, classes, and actions provided by the engine and programmers, and put them to use without coding anything themselves. Gone are the days of tracing event name text through a series of actors in a level to figure out where something went wrong. Now you can just follow the lines from point to point.

I do need to credit the following people who assisted me in my Kismet education:
Tyler 'Tylak' Munden, Richard 'Professor Kismet' Johnson III, Paul '.:ZiO:.' Peccia,
and Lee '3D' Amarakoon. And, of course, the fine folks at EpicGames.
